Manufacturer Description
Can Do!, first released in 1944 and including 70 pages of pictures, is a remarkable account by Lt. William Huie of the formation and Second World War activities of the U.S. Navy 'Seabees' (from "C.B." - building battalion). The book covers projects of the Seabees throughout the South Pacific, the Aleutian Islands, and in Italy, along with various individual stories of the males as they faced enemy attacks, for instance, while attempting to construct vital island runways. Their ability and skills in critical trades such as building, engineering, pipe-laying, electrical energy, and pipes, and their favorable 'Can Do!' attitude in the face of danger and challenging conditions were critical in the Allied effort to win the war and stay an inspiration to more youthful generations.
